The Valley United competitive U16 girls wrapped up their season this weekend (Sept 8-9, 2019) at the Kick’n in the Capital soccer tournament in Ottawa. Based on the team’s fantastic performance in the ERSL regular season, the team was placed in the championship division and had to face tough competition. On Saturday, Valley United played first Seaway Valley, the ERSL U16-girls champion from Cornwall and then the U17 Ottawa Internationals, the second-placed team in the ERSL U17-girls division. Valley United dominated both games, played 0:0 vs Seaway Valley and won 2:1 against the Internationals. On Sunday, Valley United had to face the Internationals again in the semifinals and beat them after a 0:0 in regular time in penalty kicks 4:2. After this shoot-out excitement, Valley United cruised to a clear 2:0 win over West Carleton to win the championship! Well done girls!
After two exciting and successful seasons in the competitive East Region Soccer League (ERSL), Valley United will be playing competitive soccer again next year as a U17 girls team.
