What parents and volunteers need to know.

Named for an Ottawa student, Rowan Stringer, who unknowingly suffered three concussions in the span of six days and passed away from Secondary Impact Injury, Rowan's Law, unique to Ontario, seeks to create concussion awareness and reduce injury.

Under Rowan's Law, all athletes under 26 years of age, parents of athletes under 18, Coaches, Team Trainers and Team Officials must confirm every year that they have reviewed Ontario’s Concussion Awareness Resources. The Concussion Awareness Resources can be accessed free of charge at "Rowan’s Law: Concussion Awareness Resources."  Confirmation will be part of the registration process for players and volunteers.  The e-booklets will also be available on our club's website.

Additional implementation of the law includes a Concussion Code of Conduct which will also be part of registration for players and volunteers.  DRAMSC will also be developing a Removal-from-Play/Return-to-Play protocol in the coming months.
